Yesterday my rooster was attacked by my neighbors dogs. He has a very large gash on his back and I brought him to the vet where he got staples and the wound cleaned out. The vet told me to look online to find a homemade antibiotic to add to his food or water to help prevent infection. We have separated him from the others and he is not doing very well. Please help ASAP.

Welcome to BYC. I am sorry about your rooster. The vet could have given him some very good regular antibiotics. I would put some plain bacitracin or neosporin ointment on the wounds daily. Some use a bit of fresh garlic and oregano as medicines for their chickens, but I would call the vet to get something in a prescription, such as Clavamox, Cephalexin, or others. Probiotics from plain yogurt may also help.
