can they eat a whole grape or would it be better as a frozen pureed chunk of icy grapeness?

I haven't done grapes yet but with the frozen blueberries they pecked at them until they were small enough to swallow. Some of the berries were quite large so they had to. I also filled a pan with water and put ice in it for them. They loved the cool water and one girl even walked through it repeatedly. My big rooster boy was HOT though and wouldn't join her. Poor guy, he's a Wyandotte and pretty dang big so I know he was cooking. He spent a lot of time wallowing in the dirt.

I know I am a bit late chiming in but mine love frozen grapes, frozen peas and frozen corn on the cob.

I have to cut my cantaloupe into pieces or I swear that they wouuld drown themselves in it...lol

I also float ice cubes in their waterers for fun...and if I put a drop of foodcoloring in the tray when I make them...look out! rof!

Frozen berries are a fav too if you can find them unsweetened.

No wonder my chickens dont stray...they have it waaay too good here.

I also use the plastic coffee containers filled with water and freeze them they stay cold for a long time and place in the coops.

Being in central FL heat is a constant issue even though the coops are built for heat. I have to keep them locked up so they dont predators dont win as well.

I put blocks of ice (frozen in sherbert containers) in a dish in front of an oscillating fan to help them get a "cool" breeze all night and something to peck on if really needed. I found one girl sitting on one one night when I was checking at bedtime so I now put several around so noone hogs one to themselves.

I like this idea..sounds like most containers will work. When my husband and son finish off that ice cream...I'm going to freeze some water for mine and see how they like it. It's pretty warm here in Utah at this time of year.

I've done the freezing water for my Golden Retriever's water pans also. I usually use a large bowl for that.
Who ever said they add coloring to their chicken's water..how cute! Does it stain their feathers? Colored chickens!
