Need Immediate Advice

Oh and I forgot to tell you that the hatch went off really well. I haven't seen them yet. I was busy cleaning the brooder. But my husband said she hatched 12 of 13. Very exciting. We will be heading to the barn to feed soon. So I should get to see them then. I will try to take some pics.

Ms Lydia, Amiga and M. Kitchengirl....What kind of ducks do you have?

I have never raised ducks. But when I was a girl we lived on a farm that my parents rented. The owners had ducks they left there when they moved to town. They would chase my mom. No one else. Just her. She had to park the car right beside the steps to the back door and crawl out on the passenger side to get in the house. I had forgotten about that until our friend gave us these ducks. So funny to think about now! I hope my ducks don't chase me!

Oh, for goodness' sake! Was your mom the duck feeder? Perhaps they were really hungry and waiting for her to give them dinner!

I have nine Runners and two Buffs. I raised the Runners from day-olds, the Buffs were adopted three months ago. They were abandoned, then rescued by a shelter from which we adopted them. These are my first flock, really. When I was a teen I had a few Pekins and Mallards, but that was a while ago . . .

My ducks don't chase me. They do call for me, and follow me when I want them to. Only rarely do we have to have a discussion about going where I want them to go. And it's always for a good duck reason.

That made me laugh out loud visualizing your mother running from ducks.. I don't think your ducks will chase you, but when i want my ducks/ chickens to come to me I whistle, then they come running, they know their getting their afternoon snack of mealworms. When my children were young[,many moons ago] we went to a park not far from where we lived, my brother was visiting us so he walked along with us. We took bread to feed the ducks and geese,[because we didn't know any better] but anyway we had a great time feeding everyone but when the bread ran out they surrounded us and next thing we know we're all standing up on the park bench wondering what to do next, so my brother reaches into his pocket and pulls out some kind of candy and says I'll distract them you take off running with the kids. So thats how we survived a very scarey situation way back in the 60's I sure hope we didn't kill those poor ducks and geese, we just wanted to get away with our lives..
