Need immediate help to save juvenile roo

I think she might be talking about separating the roosters that fought. Of course, now they have 75 miles between them. :)

Elvis seems to be doing much better today. He's holding his own head up and not resting it against everything. He still nods off. He did it while he was drinking this morning.

He is drinking on his own and I'm going to try to get him to eat in a couple minutes.

He was moving around quite a bit last night and he finally pooped. No worms!!!

It's still early but I have a theory that the big rooster was terrorizing him more than the people thought and most of this is from dehydration. The more liquids he takes in the more active he gets.

I'll keep you posted throughout the day.

Elvis is talking to me when I handle him.

He also ate quite a bit of the scrambled egg / chick starter / electrolyte mix all on his own. I supported him so he could stand on the floor and put the dish in front of him - boy did he go to town on it. When I put the electrolyte dish down he drank a bunch of that on his own.

He's still nodding off but he's alert more of the time and he's holding his head up and looking around. He still can't walk on his own but he did stand and support his own weight while leaning against me.

The whole family is thrilled.

Viva las Elvis!

That is great news :)

Whoooot! I always was an Elvis fan! If he's eating and drinking on his own, he's doing pretty well. Ggod job!

Great news. Poor guy....being terrorized, then rehomed, then being cuddled by a new person. When you think about it he's dealing with a lot! No wonder he keeps nodding off...He probably thinks he's dreaming!! Keep up the good work & please keep us posted!!

My husband and I talked a little about my theory this afternoon while Elvis was chowing down and he thinks it went farther than just dehydration. He thinks the other roo was keeping Elvis from eating too and the people who had him didn't even realize it. If that's the case, he's certainly making up for it now. He eats a little more at every meal and gets more and more active. Still can't stand on his own but supports himself with a little steadying. He tries to walk and if we support him so he doesn't fall down he motivates where he wants to go. He still tires quickly and often just nods off in the middle of whatever he's doing.

We'll see how he is in the morning after a good night's sleep.

I just can't thank you all enough for your best wishes and suggestions.

No change in Elvis so far today. My husband thinks he may have a neck injury but we won't know until he can move around better. He fears there is right side brain damage since he leans to the left so badly. We'll keep on with what we're doing and hope he starts to show some improvement.
