Need immediate Help

Too many drakes are culled. I love that you are getting a drake!
I know nothing about how two drakes get along, but it sounds like you have experience in this area.

Two drakes will get along fine as long as they can't see or hear any other females. The OP has no other females at the time so there will be no issues. You could get every drake out there and put them together as long as there are no females. Feel free to get a pare of drakes that need a home to, if you can find a pare that were raised together, it will be easier to integrate. So happy your getting a drake! You are saving a life!

First of all, I'm very sorry for your loss. If you want to give your drake a friend soon, I agree that an adult male is likely a good option for him. Unless you want to get many hens. Your local Craigslist is a good place to look, also where I live I can always find ducks on Petfinder who need homes.

Since animals are individuals no one can say what will happen for certain when you introduce them. You can do things to make the transition smoother, like use the look but no touch method - but that still doesn't guarantee anything.

One time I introduced rescue ducks into my existing flock and they fit in perfectly, like they had always belonged. A few months later I introduced another rescue duck into my existing flock and they rejected her immediately. After months they stopped pecking at her, but even 2 years later they never welcomed her into the flock. She was always standing several feet away.

I think it is important to have realistic expectations. Your new duck might get along perfectly with your existing duck, or there might be a transition period where there is some pecking and they work out the dominance, or they might not ever like each other.

not sure I'd go that far. Some animals (any animals) just don't get along well with all others at all times no matter what. Ducks have a lot of personality. Lots of people separate ducks that just won't stop picking on each other. It's not unlikely that the OP will be fine integrating a new drake, but they also shouldn't feel discouraged if for whatever reason they can't seem to make them get along - it happens sometimes.

Ducks are flock animals. As long as there isn't an important dominance role, then they will be just fine. They instinctually want to be together because there is safety in numbers. I also get that in some cases certain drakes won't get along, but if there are no ladies, what is there to not get along about? @Duck mommy 2019, you have any additional thoughts?

if you don’t have any hens they’ll most likely get along (sometimes they’ll fight but even my girls do that and it’s for pecking order and happens rarely) but they’ll be best friends. even if you get two more drakes they’ll make their own little group and be friends
