I have an iPod Nano that is several years old. The iTunes program I used to load it is on my old laptop. I would like to transfer all of that to the new computer. I bought software that would allow me to transfer all of the old laptop onto the new laptop, but the old laptop is not holding a charge and the power cord connection is faulty (why I bought the new one). It keeps shutting itself down.

Sooooo... the question is, how do I get all of the old iTunes stuff to the new computer? When I plug the iPod in it wants to wipe the iPod clean. I certainly don't want to do that. Is there a way to dump from the iPod onto the new laptop?

I don't know about an Ipod, but you can go to the drive the Ipod shows up as, and when you can see the songs, select all, and save to My Documents. I would make a folder to put them in.

Install iTunes on the new computer and then plug in the iPod. It'll tell you the iPod is synced with another computer and ask it if you want to erase it and sync with the new computer. Cancel or tell it no, whatever. Then highlight your iPod and right click and select 'transfer purchases". I'm not sure if that'll help or not. I've screwed with my iPad and formatting enough times that it seems like I did it that way once and it worked. It's worth a shot.

I had to buy a program for $20 to transfer my music from my ipod onto my computer. The program was called copytrans. It worked very well for me, and was well worth the $20.
