Need opinions;just got a new silkie pullet,

i know, im so sick of college tho and this is my escape (sp) (im having a rough day lol)
turns out that this is just turning into another hole im falling into lol
i think ill get better once my pullets start laying, give me something to do and look foreward to lol
ugh... guess im not gonna be able to actually enjoy myself in the show ring with chickens til im much older....

you can learn a lot at a show most breeders will be more than happy to look at your bird. I would enter her. If you can find a near by show. I learned a ton at our first show by watching the kids do showmanship.

There's much to be learned simply from attending a show, though it makes it much more fun to bring your bird.

I always love seeing exhibitors handle their fowl.

Just the same, there's no shame in entering her in a small fair and just as well being recongnized for having a bird superior to others, or entering her in a more serious show and seeing what judges say about her in comparison to the standard and the competition. How do you think these big time breeders started out? Very few of them would be willing to give away birds with previous show-success or a possible future. There are acceptions out there, though they come at a price for you and said breeder (physically and figuratively). Generally, you start small and breed until you are pleased with what you have.

Don't lose your spirit. My birds are mediocre at best, but I find shows that suit both them and myself. And I do have a few ribbons and even a little reputation to show for it.

yea, ive been looking for local shows, but i think they are all gone for the season, i missed going to one by just days, becouse i forgot to look up the dates til to late

It was the one in Frankenmuth MI and its the only one that i know in MI that is APA???
so i guess im gonna have to wait til next show season (why cant they just be all year round LOL)
im really excited to get her into a show still. i def. plan on doing shows will her still, even if its just for fun and doesnt get me anything, its a Huge thrill thing with me.

Its like planning for a big trip LOL
