How is the Red Pyle Project coming? I had a thought today and it might have been mentioned wonder if you made lemon blues, then took the splash babies to make the red pyle?

The red pyle color pattern is built on the wild type gene in birds. If you are going to make an ameraucana in red pyle you are going to have to use a silver ameraucana to introduce the wild type gene. It would be best to build the proper black color on a gold wild type then introduce the dominant white.

If you are trying to make a red pyle on wheaten or extended black it is not going to work. It will work on the wheaten males but not the females.
The females must have a salmon breast and that comes from the wild type allele.

tadkerson i have two females with salmon chest are these EE or old enlish game red pyle hens. these pics dont show the difinate darker salmon color on there chest but it is there.

What about leg color? To get the blue shanks you will have to breed your birds to ameraucan with blue/slate shanks. Have you thought about this?

Are the birds legs green or are they slate?

I have a red Pyle I'm not shure what breed. He has a single comb slate colored legs comb, ears bright red. His neck is Orange with Brown spots down his back I'm thinking oegb??? It's wings are pointed down to the ground.
