Need pics of Red Pyle chicks. Working on Red Pyle Ameraucana project.

The red will not start to show until they are older- can not remember exactly because I did not record the time. My best guess would be 3 months and then it will spread on the birds.. Dominant white males and females will not show all the red they will have until they sexually mature and even after they mature. I did not keep exact records so I am working from memory.

I would show you a pic but something happened to all my pics. I can not get the back up to restore the data. I have lost some functions on my computer because of Microsoft updates. Not good.

I have restored my system but still does not work properly in certain functions. I have a back up online and will have to go and get the pics and other data I lost.

Well, I have several white chicks under 4 months old, like pictured in this batch below, out of the red pyle project birds, so I'll be sure to hang onto them...and keep my fingers crossed. I was told that if they stay white, they're silver based and need the introduction of the gold gene. Do I have that right? hmmm... unless these birds also carry recessive white and that would sure throw a monkey wrench into it.

I feel your pain about the missing data on your pc. I lost some information recently, including many OLD emails, invoices, receipts, etc that I was saving. I'd meant to copy and save them for tax purposes, but of course had put it off.

Sorry I may not have come across correctly. I was trying to say that it might be easier starting with Ameraucanas, instead of Easter Eggers because you know the birds carry correct genes for comb, leg color, and facial plumage. I had EE's and loved them but it was always a surprise when I hatched out eggs from their pen. I never knew exactly what I was going to get. Feather patterns got even crazier when I added extra Ameraucanas in with them.

It is good that you are culling hard for correct type now. Can't wait to see the birds as the project develops.

Oh, I understand, no problem. As far as I know though, most white Ameraucanas are Recessive White, so I'd probably still have to go outside the breed to pick up the Dominant White. I'll just have to deal with the unwantd genes that pop up.

I know someone using Red Pyle OEG with bantam Ameraucanas. He has the issues of single combs and leg color to deal with along with color, so I guess either way you have to cull heavily in the beginning. After 4 years, he says he's beginning to see good results.

I used an outcross with SQ black Ameraucana in 2005 but fortunately this one is quite easy to deal with for comb (even though it looks bad here!). I got a lot of nicely combed chicks from the hatch this year but they are in MD and I am in NY at the moment.

Theres a lot of things wrong with him color wise but he had an awesome brother (2007) that was killed by a fox.
His mates are dominant white hens carrying BBR...they look white with black speckles.

What are you saying that you crossed with the SQ black Ameraucana? ...a red pyle Old English?

So are you planning on continueing the project at some point?

Back in UK I made pyle araucanas (British type with crests, muffs & beard) in that case it needed a crossover as crest & dominant white are on the same chromosome.

I used gold duckwing araucana male (e+/e+, s+/s+, i+-Cr/i+Cr) on a white leghorn female (E/E,B/-,S/-, I-cr+/I-cr+). Took female offspring (E/e+, s+/-, b+/-,I-cr+/i+-Cr) back to gold duckwing males & selecting the pyle offspring with closest type. Kept breeding pyle, now of either sex back to gold duckwing, selecting for type & hope for crossover (which wouldn't be necessary with ameraucanas).

Original male I had was a dominant white easter egger named Sunshine whom I had for years (2000-2006). He carried BBR as far as I can tell from the other offspring I got. He had one offspring with gorgeous honey coloration on the shoulders, back and lower wing...looked like a yellow golden version of a pyle.
No old english...these are Large Fowl!! My Ameraucana are VERY large, not small like the hatchery EE.
Yes, I am still breeding them, I give the culls to nearby farms.
