Recently broody ISA brown that is back outside now for about 2 weeks.
Couple things are off now...
- She is extremely skiddish and wasn't previously. The other 5 don't pick on her, but if she's out grazing and another gets close she tends to run away, but not always. Very vocal too. So skiddish that I can't even get close to pick her up.
- appears to have dropped alot of weight, but I attributed this to her broody time and not moving much. Still though appears too small. She is eating, grazing and drinking.
- feather - chest is bare, again I attributed this to broody reaction. BUT the other day she lost her tail feathers. I haven't had them long enough to see molting...but being fall is this normal?
- wattle - is not very red, actually more on the side of yellow. It has improved since she came out of being broody. Figured it would have gotten better by now. Her comb also has shrunk, but is standing up right.
- poop - while broody she was dropping small egg sized bombs. This blew my mind until I saw it was somewhat usual during the broody phase! Now appears normal like the others.
Anyone have any thoughts or recomnations?
After reading some other threads, I'm going to go get some vitamins for thier waterer and maybe some meal worms to see if she'll gorge on those. Put another feeder in the area so she doesn't feel squeezed out. I also use DE in their dusting spots. They roam my yard and they also have access to clean water and feed at any point.
On a side note - I appreciate everyone on this forum for taking the time to respond and share their knowledge. This site has been phenomenal and there rarely isn't a question I can't find an answer to!
