need recovery advice from dog pack attack on small mixed flock

How are the chickens doing? I would definitely talk to the neighbor about the dog attack. Before taking any drastic measures such as lethal control, remember that dogs are predators, they don't know what they are doing wrong by hunting prey. Hope your chickens do well in the future! Keep us posted
Good luck

Agreed! We are dog people, we wouldn't shoot a dog for acting like a dog. However let the dog out should be the one to blame. Sometimes it is an accident though, those types of things happen. We have six dogs and they love to chase things, but they are the sweetest things ever. I would never, ever want some one to shoot our dogs. However, if my chickens got killed by sometimes dog I would certainly be frustrated to say the least.

Definitely. I LOVE my naughty pup, Lakota, chased a rabbit in our yard, conered it against a fence, than sat down with his tongue out, trying to figure out what to do next. Eventually got up, walked over to me, and gave me the funniest expression. Rabbit ran off and Lakota gave chase. He is so hilarious!

Just an update for the thread...

My beautiful roo Hercules was recovering from his injuries...but after the day outdoors, calling for his flock for two hours, his recovery turned downhill. Another trip to the vet...he crashed while we were there...blood test....then oxygen mask, heart palpitation...and he gave up...It broke all our hearts. I think the vet took it as badly as I did ...We just knew herc was going to ;make it. She cried with me. Blood test showed his kidneys failed.... Raven is recovering, feathers filling in...still having wound care issues on her breast bone area. Probable due to in house crate care instead of roosting.

New hen house is built...adding the finishing touches...hardware, roosts and boxes...will postpix soon on coop forum...Surviving hens are still living in the office....Leghorn, Henny (of theHenny Penny twins) has laid almost daily for me...Raven still is recovering from wounds and possible pelvic bone breaks...Beginning to walk okay...slight limp, but not perching. missing feathers all filling in...Have her finally off pain meds and anti biotics.....who knows, or cares when she'll lay again..

Thanksto everyone who gave advice...now looking to begin a new flock...any advice? :)

I'm so, so sorry about Hercules, but I'm very glad you have a few hens left and they seem to be recovering well.

Because of the issues with the dog, I assume your going to be building a run? If so, then the new breeds you get shouldn't be a flighty type, as they tend to run into things when nervous. I have a chicken named Nascar who, when she panics, runs in circles all the way through teh barn, around the yard, and back again. It's so funny that she lives up to her name.
