My parents didn't go with the underground wire fence thing. Too many problems and digging up the yard is a chore fixing the wire when it brakes. So, they opted for the wireless perimeter fence. Sure, the cost is a little more, but the hard work is not there. A little dog training with the white flags is still needed for a few days too. A good unit will cover over an acre. The shock has range settings too.
