Need some advice about my neighbors

My parents didn't go with the underground wire fence thing. Too many problems and digging up the yard is a chore fixing the wire when it brakes. So, they opted for the wireless perimeter fence. Sure, the cost is a little more, but the hard work is not there. A little dog training with the white flags is still needed for a few days too. A good unit will cover over an acre. The shock has range settings too.

So, offer this up as a suggestion when talking with them. Or, if the underground wire is broken, try to help them find the brake to repair. Thus the dogs can be free again and stop barking.

Apparently the fence is still working but the dogs went through it anyway. I think I am going to call her and let her know it is bothering me. I am concerned because we have had some issues in the past and it was not recieved well. I think she is probably going to say "there isnt anything I can do". Paying for a fence for her, while a nice idea, isnt really practical. I have my own animals and children to care for; if anyone is getting a new fence its going to be me. I am going to see what she says before I call the county and complain at least then I can say to her that I brought it to her attention first. Thank You all for the advice I appreciate it.

If you are worried about confrontation over it, make an anonymous phone call... while the dogs are barking... take the phone out side with you... make the call, and then say, why your calling and your having a hard time because the neighbors dogs have not stopped barking for hours.

I saw that her dogs ran threw the underground electric fence. My old dog did this too, there's a better collar you can buy. We paid about 10 years ago, $100.00 ordered from the states as they weren't availbe in Canada. It gives a bigger shock, and last longer while over the fence. With a bit of retraining, he never left the yard again.

Before this collar, My dog "Junior" would go to the far corner and run as fast as he could across the line. He had it beat!! (Was funny to watch, dogs can be so smart) New collar, he went across once, never again. I would suggest to her to contact where she got fence from and see if they have a better collar. I'm sure ours said it was for extra large breeds.

The barking probley bothers her too, maybe they are in the mist of waiting for dog trainer, saving enough for a better fence. You never know till you talk to her, what her thoughts are.

Good luck, we live in the country, and as soon as my dog starts to bark he comes in the house.

Thats the problem now days no one wants to talk to their neighbors. An anonymous phone call, letter in the mailbox, getting AC or police involved before talking to me would have me ****** off. I honestly dont get why someone would have to ask this. Sounds like common sense to me especially if your already friendly with one another.

Nothing wrong with asking this question, The op was looking for ideas. It's brainstorming.. Nothing wrong with that, it also lets you get an idea of what people think is normal country life. and how to respond to their combacks. yes go talk to them, but better to go in with ideas to help, then just to point out flaws.

Some people may not know best how to handle a situation.. IE, I call my older sister once a week for advice on something.. Not everyone has a person they could ask. and it's really nice to hear everyones ideas.. I don't always take her advice, but I like to know what others think..

I am like my Mom, very quiet, till I'm upset, then go in guns a blaring. As I've gotten older, I've found it's better to talk to people, to find out how they've handle simlar things.. Before getting upset and yelling, making things worse..

We are friendly but there was a situation in the past that was brought to her attention and it got UGLY! So I am concerned it will again. I was posting more about if someone in the country can allow their dog to bark all day. I think she is going to say there isnt anything she can do and deal with it...then I need to know where to go from there. My husband says because we live in the country we can't stop it if she doesnt care to stop it.
@midwest I know you are pretty new...people on this site ask all sorts of things.....you are welcome not to read or respond to anything you dont deem worthy.

YES exactly like I am!! I dont like confrontation...until I am REALLY MAD! Then I go bonkers! Thank you you stated exactly what I am doing. A part of me wondered if I was being petty being annoyed by 2 dogs barking all day.

Can you afford to buy 1 or 2 ultrasonic bark deterrents and point them in that offensive neighbor's direction?The one shaped like a little bird house worked well for me - Petsafe I think... check Amazon or Dr. Fostersmith. Little dogs with a shrill bark won't set the one I have off, though, so it might not work on whining.

Never seen or heard of one yes I have several trees that direction I could put something like that up....I'm gonna check into it. Thanks!
