Okay so recently my pullets all got eaten by a predator when the we’re free ranging. One of them survived somehow, I’m really grateful because this was my favorite, and she’s doing well now but still had a wound. It doesn’t seem to bother her anymore and her wing covers all traces of it.
We got some new ready to lay Bovan browns who have been together all their lives. They pecked at my pullets head a few times but now seems to be fine. We are getting a new roo soon and am worried that he’ll be more aggresive than the hens were towards her. Do I need to keep them separated until my baby is fully healed and old enough to mate?
We’re worried about her being hurt worse by him. He’s fully grown and completely mature. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

Welcome to BYC!

Sorry for the predator loss.

You will want to introduce the rooster to them carefully. Quarantine would be a good idea too.

Keep him isolated for a bit. Let them hear each other first and if your favorite has merged with the new hens well they will most likely stick together. After a week or two of isolation let him meet the girls in a open environment, or somewhere they feel safe, and or have a lot of escape routes if necessary. Just monitor them carefully and if they don't get along isolate him again and after a bit you repeat. Good Luck!
