Need some hatching buddies - Hatching May 24-28

I candles last night and out of the 17 eggs I stared with I now have 13 that are doing good. I also have three other newer eggs in there so my lockdown is not going to be all that great since I still have to turn the three. One of the three is a double yolk and is growing form what I can tell. Lets just hope the electric don't go out on me with all the storms that are in my area.

I candled on Day 7 and won't be candling again until lockdown day. I hope everyone has great success rate on the eggs that are making it to lockdown!

Happy Easter everyone.

I got myself an Easter chick today. I had bought an Australorp that had been with a roo, so I tossed a few in the bator. Never guessed the first one would hatch on the very day it was supposed to, today. It had pipped yesterday morning, thought for sure it looked like it would hatch last night..but we watched the miracle happen this morning. This baby has five toes. Mom is pure Australorp..dad..? Maybe some Fav. in there somewhere? The guy I got the Australorp from said that all the babies he hatched from her have 5 toes. These aren't the eggs I have for the hatch along here, but I'm not complaining.

My other eggs go into lock down on Tues. Will be fun to see the different colors from a barnyard mix.

Then the next week..some chicks who's dad is a beautiful blue wheaton Ameraucana , hens...are...blue, splash, and black Ameraucanas. Excited for them. I want a blue and a black girl! These eggs are beautiful blues, blue/greens, and a darker green.

Lockdown tomorrow morning for me! I am not candling again...did it on day 14....makes me SOOOO nervous. Hope to have 15 eggs hatch out.....just moved my 3 1/2 wk. old chicks out of the brooder into a coop with heat lamp....I'll be worrying about them as I worry about the eggs in the incubator! Who knew chicken raising was so stressful.!

Ours are due Thursday. I have to transport the 'bator back to school on Tuesday. I think at least one of the eggs is ahead of the others and might have been sat on for a couple of days or something. I'm going to do a quick candle here at home tonight to see how they are looking. We are going to take them out of the turner and put them into the cartons to hatch. I've found at school that works really well to give the students the best view of the process of hatching.

Went on lock down today!

I had a terrible hatch last time and am hoping for a good one this time. I started with 14, dropped one at day 10.

and one was not developed the other day...maybe day 15 or 16. So 12 on loack down. Looking forward to the week. I have a good feeling aobut these babies.

Hugs to you, HennyPenny. I know how you feel. I'm sorry you lost a baby. How many more are in the bator?
