Need some hatching buddies - Hatching May 24-28

I candled again last night and all 10 of the eggs that were developing are still doing good. I removed 13 more eggs...not taking any chances! I am still holding out hope that they might still hatch!

Hi everyone!!

I just found this thread last night. I am expecting my very FIRST hatch on May 24! This is so very exciting!! I have 4 hens: Little Bitty-BCM, Milly and Tilly-Dominiques, and Gracie-Gold Laced Wyndotte. Little Bitty went broody and after I was sure she was serious I got her some eggs to hatch. She has 4 Polish, 4 Silver Laced Wyndotte, and 4 Ameraucanas from big blue eggs. This is my first go at hatching. (Well I tried a homemade incubator and couldn't get the temp. stable). I have candled twice and definately see veining and growth. Last night the blue eggs seemed opaque except for the air pocket. Is that normal for this stage of the game?

Happy for you! You'll get some.

Lockdown for my first set of Mille Fluer D'Uccles'. Only three of 7 made it this far.

Then, lockdown in two more days for the other bunch I bought. So far, I have 8 that are doing well. I should get some Mille Fluer D'Uccles'. Bantams, who would have known I would want a bantam at the first part of this year...not me!

Dominique I have large blue Araucana eggs in my bator n the shells are really thick all i can see is the air cell and that a half of the egg is dark cant see veins or any movement. This is my second hatch of this breed and these eggs look the same as the eggs during my last hatch so hang in there. Momma knows best just let her get on with her job and every thing will turn out just fine

I go into lockdown tomorrow, so today we are going to put some 1/4 inch square fencing in the bottom so that I will have room for the water for humidity under it. I have 32 eggs in mine at this time but only 9 are due on the 22 the rest are due on the 4th of June. I think 2 or 3 might have quit on me already but I will wait till hatch day to make sure. If my eggs don't hatch on hatch day or the next day they are out of here. After that I will have 24 to to go that are a mix that I got at the auction this last weekend, at this time I am not sure if they are good or not for I can not see in to some of them since the shells are so dark. I will have to wait till after hatch day to find out.

I do the same with the darker eggs..wait if they started to look dark from the beginning. The dark brown, greens, and some blue/greens are really hard to tell. If I see veings when I first candle, then wait it is.
Good luck to you and natch......
