Anyone know of a sure way to get rid of a skunk? We have a skunk living under the shed next to my chicken coop. I am not worried about her getting in the run too much as we have wire buried on the bottom so she cannot dig in, the top is covered with chain link so she cannot climb in and there is not a gap anywhere larger than an inch. Plus the Chickens are locked in the coop at night which is Solid wood. But I really don't like her being around we are pretty sure it is a mamma with babies as we have been filling in the holes at night with rocks and dog poop but she keeps digging back in so very motivated!!! If there are babies I certainly don't want to hurt them I just want them to vacate. Anyone have any ideas? I have heard Mothballs work but that you really should not use them for this and that it is illegal to do so plus I don't want them to harm my chickens either. I have also heard the Fennel oil is good at deterring pest anyone heard of this? I have also heard of using Amonia but with the proximity of the shed vs the coop I am afraid it harm my chickens too!!! Ugh PLEASE HELP!!!

Some other deterrents that people have used include fox or dog urine deters skunks, pepper sprays, and citrus peels. Making sure that you leave no food sources (accessible garbage cans, compost piles, cat or dog food, etc.) around for the skunks may cause them to leave. The only sure way to remove them is to catch them in a live trap and relocate them. Sardines, crisp bacon, cat food, and bread crust coated with peanut butter will all work as bait. Hope this helps.
