thanks for your comment. I really hope you are right, this is one of our favorites... who am I kidding I love them all. But we would really love another EE hen. He have an all white one that we love that was a pleasant surprise because we were told she was a Buff Orpington. Anyway, time will tell I guess.I would not leap to cockeral by any means. That is still pretty small for a comb, and not a whole lot of red...although at 3 weeks it could be the early signs...it is NOT a sure thing. I've had a lot of pullets look precocious in yellow at this age but mature early into early laying hens.
Also, with the green legs and something of a muff, it looks like this chick could be from the Wheaten Ameraucana roo, then it would be an EE, and that feather color patterning is almost always female for an EE.
