I am very allergic to poison ivy and feel very badly for you. I use a product called ZANFEL when i get poison ivy. It is for sale over the counter and works VERY FAST, (seconds after applying for me). I try to always have some in the medicine cabinet Good luck !!

Hi all, 1st post but this is something I am very familiar with.

Try this for poison ivy "Band-Aid Anti-Itch Gel"
I get it really bad every spring I have found that this stuff works well.

I get poison ivy really bad and some one told me about a lotion, Tech Nu. You can get it at any drugstore usually and its not all that expensive. It doesnt smell all that great but it works wonderfully. It gets rid of the oils from the plant and also dries up the rash and helps with the itching really fast. When we first bought our house about 7 years ago, everything was overgrown so cleaning it all both my husband and I both got it, and this stuff was a lifesaver!

I have it all the time in the summer. We are in the woods with tons of it eveywhere. I am the only one who ever gets it. My DH and kids can roll in it and not get it. I use benedryl and calamine lotion. You can go to your DR. and get a steroid shot that will dry it up very very fast.

Callamine Lotion is the best its good for mosquito bites too!

The folks who make DE (Diatomaceous Earth) claim that it will dry out Poison Ivy and Poison Oak.

It sure dries out everything I have put it on, and there are no side affects, since it is fed internally to livestock and humans (and my chickens)

This sounds weird but since you already have the rash, take a HOT shower, as hot as you can stand it without getting third degree burns. Let it run over the rash for several minutes. It will start to itch like crazy and then it will stop. It lasts for hours. Supposedly, the hot water releases the histamines in the skin, and once the histamines are gone, the itch is too. (until the histamines are stored up again.)

I posted something about poison ivy just the other day, I really don't remember where I posted it though!!
As for the cure I have found to work best for me and I am getting over it again for the upteenth time in 3 years. It is all over my yard. I use goat milk lye soap while in the tub or shower and scrub the fire out of it with this soap. The lye in the soap dries up the ivy oil, which is what stays in the skin and spreads when you scratch it. Take and antihistamine to keep you from itching and thus scratching. I can have it gone in less than a week. I get the goat milk lye soap from our hardware store that someone makes locally.
