Need some reassurance - 6 week Isabel/Lavender Wheaten Ameraucana

I've heard that the pea comb rows trick works on EEs. Not sure about Ameraucanas, but I can say for a fact that it does not work on Brahmas who are obviously pea combed as well. This leads to me personally avoiding that method :)

The comb trick has worked well on true Ameraucanas I've had, but not always EEs as they often have weird comb types.

Thanks for the tag. :)This is a tricky one! Looking like a cockerel. The rows are pretty prominant. I would not make any decisions though on this one until 12-14 weeks of age. :)

Yes, I am finding this one tricky too. Not clear three rows, but a much clearer single row than I would expect from a pullet this age. We shall wait and see :)

Wait and see . . . ah, the agony! 😉 Thanks for everyone’s help. Fingers crossed for a pullet but so far my other 4 are looking like pullets so I may be out of luck. I bought them all straight run from a local breeder.

You have absolutely nothing to complain about then regardless of the outcome ;) Won the pullet lottery by the sounds of things!

Guess who decided she wanted to be a lap chicken today? Sweet little thing. She loved getting scratched where all her neck pin feathers are. I’ve been watching her walk for several days and her carriage is horizontal which makes me lean pullet. The breeder said to keep an eye out for gold leakage on the shoulders but so far I haven’t seen any. Her comb still varies widely in pinkness, but I wonder if it’s temperature related. It’s been starting to heat up quite a bit during the day, so maybe that’s why.

Still have no idea. Tail feathers are even, walks/holds self horizontally, one row of peas (so far as I can tell), pinkish comb, beginning of wattles? Not sure if I’m seeing gold leakage on the shoulders, which the breeder said to look for - which would indicate a cockerel.

Update 11 weeks:
I’m seeing more gold feathers on his shoulders and I think the beginnings of some sickle feathers, also gold. Looks like I have a rooster. 😕

With a comb, that large, & red, it's most likely a cockerel.
