Try covering the spot with hay , grass or dirt or ?
If the smell is covered maybe they wont breed there
Maybe Think its the wetness. It is better now since I put down the oil with dish soap
Maybe killed the maggots underneath HOPE still got m but not quite as bad

Have you tried fly predators? Properly managed they make a BIG difference. Also fly traps. There is a large well known goat dairy in northern California that uses fly traps to very good effect. I am suffering a case of brain freeze at the moment and for the life of me I cannot remember the name of the dairy even though I have known it for years. It is owned by Jennifer Bice and you might try to message her on facebook. In fact she had pictures of her fly traps on facebook just a few weeks ago. They are simple to make and they catch a lot of flies with little effort on your part.

It is Redwood Hill Farm in Sebastopol, CA. They are on facebook. With a little effort you should be able find out how to make the fly traps.

Sand floor in coop, clean twice a day. Keep droppings in an old plastic cat litter container, sealed outside the coop. DE mixed into sand. One fly strip hanging from ceiling...few flies snagged. After I cut and hung mint and lemon balm from the rafters, seldom have observed flies in the coop.

It's' so hot. We lost 1 chicken tonight and I;m sick about it. What do you do keep your hens from ovrheating in this hot weather?

Try freezing water in plastic containers. The hens can roost near the blocks and cool off a bit. Electrolytes in the water may help. I used a small fan to enhance ventilation and manage through the day. Obviously offer plenty of water. Longer term ventilation and perhaps a misting system are options.

Mine love flys and maggots they will eat em all up but they can't catch the flys ,
It's so very yucky, but they love them, they love for me to get my fly flap out they know a treat is coming.:p
