Need to get rid of FLYS!!! they are constantly on the chickens and ducks food. Any ideas?

I have a huge problem with flies too..I purchased fly traps and placed them on the ground right over a fresh poop and the flies went nuts.. I couldnt believe how many flies I had in just a couple hours ..the trap I got was bought at Tractor Supply its called STAR BAR trap and toss ..it has a small plastic container you empty in the trap with the required amout of water usually 2/3 rds full be carefull I think its made with fish oil or guts or something and it smells really gross I got some on my hands and couldnt get it off for hours no matter what I washed my hands in lol..anyway they work really well I bought a few and you leave them out there right on the ground the chickens cant get to it but they will try to catch the flies through the plastic container because they see them buzzing around all trapped inside its actually funny to watch them try ...I have also heard of a wasp that will eat the fly larve gonna look into that I guess you sprinkle some wasp larve down and they eat the fly larve I saw it on you tube when I was looking for a remedy for my fly issue.. some woman was showing how to keep flies under control and she sprinkled what she was calling some kind of wasp all around the outside of the coop ..???? But if you get the traps I would suggest getting the one that the fly enters in through the bottom not the top unless your flies seem to be flying higher ..mine seem to be hovering over any fresh poop i didnt clean up so thats where I placed them .... Good luck =)

I grew up in Pewaukee WI. A gentleman named Mr Brown invented the Big Stinky Fly Trap. They are amazing! We literally had no flies in the village. Be sure to read about him...a highly educated man. Also I use powdered lime in smelly runs during hot humid weather.

We use something similar to this. The one at Tractor Supply. They work better than the bag! IMO Plus it holds way more flies.

No, the penny in a water  bag doesn't really work...Myth Busters did a segment on it recently...

I saw it but since ive used it and it did work in the real world not a setup like they had.... hate to say it but mythbusters don't always get it right!

That's exactly what I was going to say. Maggots only eat decaying or dying flesh amongst other bacteria. That's why many HUMANS get maggots (as a treatment) by adding them to terribly infected locations by.. wait for it.. A DOCTOR.
I am not having a lot of regular flies like this, but someone PLEASE tell me what to do about the darn horse flies! They are biting me like crazy and giving me panic attacks. They seem to thrive around the chicken coop.
Horse flys are awful!!!! I learned that if you kill one somehow all their friends find out and come at u in swarms. I have had this happen so many times. Aaacccckkkk
