EE pullets just don't redden up that early (if there are exceptions, it's rare), which is why we answered the way we did. :) Anything that's developing LONG before point of lay has a much greater chance of being a cockerel.

I agree with the others, comb type has nothing to do with gender. Only thing that seems to be going around is "male EEs will sport 3 rows of peas, while pullets, supposedly, only have one." That theory doesn't hold any water, in my experience.

Pea comb definitely isn’t indicative of gender, I was just wondering since it doesn’t seem like a big comb (single or not) for a 6 week old to me. It is red though. :confused:
I very often wish the answers in this forum were longer than one word.
His coloring looks very male-specific to me. An easter egger pullet would have an even orange coloration, while he has darker red in the wing area.
