We can hear our girls from pretty far away. I have 2 that are very irritable that are due to lay any day. My SS sings the egg song when ever my RIR is on the nest box laying an egg. It's the oddest thing. I'm not worried about the noise, we are allowed hens and roosters. I have a couple neighbors who are not happy we got chickens. My neighbor across the street has a flock and she ended up with a rooster. I can't hear him crow yet, but it won't be long. He's getting louder.
I am a bit taken back how loud chickens are. I wasn't expecting the girls to be this loud. I've never been around chickens before and I have 8 pulleys in my flock. I love their egg song and happy noises.
