Is there anybody on this site to actually help? I've posted many questions and haven't received an answer.
Is there a way to tell by color? It's a definite "Mip" or "Meep" that we hear. Can be quiet or very loud. Can't hear a definitive "Quack" as of this writing Her bill is black and her feet were black but are turning in to a flesh color. But loud? Can be very loud.
If it's a gray or pastel then yes, color would be an indicator. But if she's got a paint job like white or black bibbed, not so much. From the sounds of it I'd say you have a female. Does she ever make a shrill, high-pitched and LOUD rapid series of quacks that sounds like laughter, like this?

Haven't heard that laughter sound....at all. This is a Snowy call duck. She's mostly dark brown with the brown outlined by light brown. 2 white stripes are on both wings....and in the middle of those stripes is a very dark color coming between the white stripes. My son said it almost looks like black or dark blue. Wish I could post a pic.
