Using a .webs format website to try out some things. Wondering of folks here wouldn't mind trying it out.

just added the facebook linking to log in and although not sure HOW it works, am wondering if it does work for others? Thanks!!!

I have a basic template to start (and see how it goes), but would love ideas for content, on the content I have etc. I will be adding a photo album but haven't done it yet [IMG]

Boyd, this is pretty cool. The layout and setup seem to make sense to me.

What's your objective/goal for this site?

A blog and forum eventually. I am going to have a farmer's market stand next spring (if all goes as planned) and needed a place to talk about that sort of stuff and a website for it. The forums I am not 100% sure what to go there so I put the basic social stuff on it, as well as topics that I found interesting from other areas.

    Looking pretty good!

I know about the annoying ads....like the one I have for the WCNA, people do complain about the ads however I do not want to keep paying for something that I have no idea how long it would stay in "business". Once we become successful, then it would not be a bad idea to do an ad less promotion of the websites.

Looks nice. Great start. The quality of your home page image is spot on too - very clear and easy to view.

As you want to develop this into a commercial blog, may I offer a suggestion that I've offered to others here? Take a look at Wordpress before you add more content. It's free blogging software and very clever. I think it will do all that you want, especially in the future. There are plenty of plug-ins with which to customise it.

You would need to get your own domain name - $10 per year and worth having. Find a host server - Bluehost is good. Register your domain name on the server. Bluehost will install Wordpress for you - just go the your control panel and click the Wordpress logo. Your blog shell is then ready and you can start to add content. I found it something of a learning curve but it's been worth it. Google for reviews of Wordpress and you'll see what I mean.

If you haven't swatted up on Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) you should. In fact, do that before you do any more. If you have a commercial site you want it to be noticed. Learn about all the tricks for achieving that and getting a good search engine ranking in a way that the engines accept as legitimate. Even your private domain name can make a difference. I don't think that your site will get the visits that you might want through webs.com.

I wish you luck. I'm still learning all the time with my sites but it's great fun. If you have any questions about what I've written, let me know.

Quote:That's going to be a nuisance and you have no control over what ads. they place. Another reason to go solo before you add too much content.

You may not want any ads. If you do and want some control, consider signing up with Google Adsense and Amazon for content related ads. Webs.com won't let you do that because they want the advertising revenue for themselves, naturally.

Bluehost + domain name + Wordpress are not expensive. Dirt cheap in fact. Row your own boat and get noticed more than you would on webs.com then what you spend will be covered by increased business and, if you want, some advertising revenue.

I like the concept of it. I tried to sign in via Facebook, but a pop up ad slid over the sign in part and I couldn't get it to go away, so I gave up. Other than that, I would be looking forward to seeing more content, more pics, maybe some how-to's on this kind of stuff?
