Okay, so call me crazy, but I was desperate I tell ya! When my daughter was in elementary school, she was a hugger. She hugged everybody. She came home from school with head lice so routinely, you can just say the word and my scalp is on fire! ::scratch:: I tried everything, over the counter lice shampoo, the lice zapper nit comb (which worked on the adults) ::scratch:: the colored mousse (would work okay in blond hair) that dyes the nits a hot pink, ::scratch:: mayonaisse, vaseline, alchohol, baby oil. The biggest thing that I did that helped ::scratch:: besides threatening her very life if she hugged anybody ever again ::scratch:: was put about 4 ounces of turpentine in every shampoo bottle in the house. The alcohol worked too, but it does "smother" you if in your face, but added to shampoo or conditioner, it also helps. That way, everytime she shampooed her hair, any new hatches died ::scratch:: Her hair was dry after the shampoo, but I went straight back to the store and got a leave in conditioner. Oh, and one other thing, ::scratch:: the pediatrician suggested putting hair gel or mousse in her hair daily. Lice HATE dirty hair as they cannot attach the nit to the hair follicle. I absolutely adore a dead louse! Best of luck to you, if you try any of my suggestions, be very careful and do an allergy test first, on her arm.
