Well, we've looked at land space and available pens and are planning on changing some of our 2010 offerings. Quite frankly I went hatch crazy in 2009.... Please give your candid opinion of 2 or more poultry breeds to phase out. Please share with me why you think that this would be a good business decision. . We presently ship and have pick up of eggs and have our poultry of all ages picked up at the farm.

Also please let me know if you would be interested in offerings of Olive Eggs....as we have several wonderful combinations for them.

2009 Offerings:
Welsummers - non hatchery

White Leghorns - non hatchery - sold out for this season

Black Copper Marans - Wade Jeanne Line - feathered feet - French Standard - C-1 pen

Speckled Sussex - non hatchery

Buff Orpingtons - non hatchery

Barred Rocks - non hatchery

Non Production Rhode Island Red - Pure Mahogany - non hatchery

For 2010

It looks to me like the ones to get rid of would be the ones you sold the least of. Or the ones that are the poorest quality, or have highest fatality. Only you know the answers to that.

Jen makes sense and it sounds practical.

I am vamping up what sold the best this year and phasing out what was the most bothersome or is poor quality. I, of course, want to keep what I like regardless of how it sells. It may be popular next year but I always keep what I personally like. I have had my white bantam Cochins forever and they seldom sell well but I adore them and breed them for my pleasure.

Buffs and BRs?

I do the same this time of year i thin out and sell the ones that sold the least and who's breeding quality has went down.

I'm phasing out most of my pigeons they did not sell well my fawn silver duckwings they have become unpopular.
I'm moving towards modern game and Lemon blues for next year as well as call ducks and turkeys.
But my ring neck doves those are my favorite as well as my brown reds those i keep regardless.

i would say whatever sold the least, if everything sold well then perhaps the ones with the worst hatch/laying rates, or worst quality would be the ones to eliminate.

Okay we're still processing the input....We sold one small flock of Large Fowl Cochins that were brown and blues

I'm keeping the flock of the BBS Lare Fowl Cochins.

We're reducing the flock of the Peking Ducks in half......Sorta a necessity, found 1/2 of them were boys.

We will keep the Barreds as layers of eating eggs but continue to also offer hatching.

So we're making some progress....
Any other suggestions are most welcome~

Thanks and have a blessed day.
