Need Your Suggestions..

I wonder if our water can have something to do with it? We can't drink it if it's not run through the filter in the house. Taste like a rubber hose!!!!!!

Well water? If you are concerned about something bad in your water there are mail-in kits you can buy to test it. You should do this once in awhile technically anyways if on a well. We are on a well and our water has lots of iron. So it tastes weird unless run through the house system. But it is fine for chickens. We had ours tested though.

I guess I'm drawing at straws here. I did find something out today though. The guy who I bought the chickens said that the people he buys from, some bring them in an open truck. He said some of them just get sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why are you selling them then!! At $12 a piece.

I just don't think it is a contagious thing. The other 3 are fine!! I am starting ti think the sick ones are from people that bring them to that sale in open trucks and he brings them to the flee market in a slotted trailer. Could this be the problem??????

Yea I have seen that before. Unfortunately everything a chicken can get overlaps with symptoms. So I will never know unless I take them to a vet.

I did talk to 2 different people who sell chickens and said there has been a lot of complaints about the guys chickens. One guy said just what I said sort of, they arrive to him in an open truck, he hauls them in cold wet windy weather in a semi open trailer. Puts them all in a dog cage (3 at a time and they cant move) maybe a 2x2 if that. there not feed or watered. Thats why they acted like a pack of starved dogs when I feed them for the first 3 days. He said they can only take so much.

I did notice today at the end of the day that I dumped out there pellets in the chicken hospital (LOL) and put in the mash I have and was the first time in a day and a half I seen them eat then drink. So I put the mash in the good chickens food tray and they eat until it was all gone. Like I have been starving them. I am beginning to think they are not eating enough. They pick at the pellets but do eat like they do with the mash.

tomorrow as soon as TSC opens I'm going to get the Purina Crumbles. See how they eat that.
