I'm so jelous, I wish mine would let me buy, one then again I wish we could afford one. I was going to tell you to see if you could find a cheap thrown out cook stove with and oven or a toaster oven that does not work and an electric skillet, I just made me a 200 compasity hillbilly incubator that works even better than my Little Giant incubator. I have an in wall oven that has not worked for years and an electric skillet that someone gave us but we didn't need and my husbend was going to make me a cabinet bator but got busy with building coops instead so I took the and cleaned the oven out real good and then but the skillet on the top rack up side down and then put a pie pan of water on the bottom of the oven, I covered the middle rack with a old cloth diaper, ( you know the kind your moms use to use, and we all now use them to clean with, LOL) and set the eggs on that and its been working out great I figure when time to hatch I can move the new chicks to the little giant to dry so that they won't move the other eggs around to much and give all the rest of them a chance to hatch without to much trouble. But sounds like you have it covered. Oh, yea happy birthday!
Cheap kind of went out of the window, oops. At least it wasn't a GQF Sportsman! I guess instead of these two I could have got a used one, but my husband would have had a seizure if I started hatching hundreds of eggs. I love my other incubator but a second one of those was way over the budget. I don't think it was that bad though; because they have the new model out, they sold me the old one for $299 including the turning cradle, the digital package and the hygrometer. I'd probably have spent $120+ on a Hovabator with the fan and turner, and at least if this one goes wrong I can have it repaired and parts should be available for quite some time. My birthday isn't until May, but if i'd waited until then i'd have missed 3 or 4 hatches LOL
Congrats to you. I don't have the Octagon, I have the TX-6 and I love it. You will be happy in the long run with your incubator. It will be working well for years and years. I can't tell you what a difference there is between my TX-6 and the Styrofoam units. I had a Top Hatch in between the two and I liked it as well but I had an opportunity to get this one used and it was to good a deal to pass up.
