 Needing advice on feed!

I buy a all organic feed for my chickens.. It has corn, and it looks like a bunch of different seeds mixed in with it. They have oyster shells they can get whenever they want, and I have mealworm treats I give them too.. about two handfuls a day split between 11 chickens right now. Along with scraps from the kitchen. :)

Sounds like they're well cared for :)

Where do you get the Organic feed for your chickens?

Welcome to BYC. If you update your profile to include either your state or even town, people might be able to give you feedback where to buy organic feed,

Corn is made in a chicken feed.
I do believe in causes disease.Of course in the feed, completely different things are/can be put in.
It obviously doesn't harm them.Cracked corn is badder then any other corn.

But the main foods mine get are:
Bread.Not a #1 thing your birds should have,but its a filler.
Veggies.They actually aren't big fans,unless its canned.
Cornbread.They are true lovers.
Fruits. They only get apples really, but they love em'.
Gramcracker crums.They like them.
Rice.Rice is used for putting up or putting medicine in,but they love it.
Scratch. This should be used maturely,Don;t feed it like nuts.Only every so often.

lol I don't believe "badder" is a word :)
From what I've read cracked corn is empty calories so just make them fat, it's ok in moderation but not as a complete or every day feed

Hogwash. Cracked corn, or whole corn or cornmeal or corn on the cob or whatever isn't bad. And cracked corn certainly isn't worse than other corn, assuming its been stored properly, like any grain should be. If its the only thing you feed, it's not a complete meal. Corn isn't bad, but not feeding anything else is. Corn is a very good ingredient of feed, but makes a poor meal if nothing else is offered.

Now I will agree that GMO corn, which is probably 95% of the corn on the market, isn't good. It's a controversial topic, but there are several reasons I won't buy GMO corn. Note I didn't say I won't eat it. I'm not going to be a snob about it if a friend makes a meal with it, but I won't choose it for myself or our chickens.
