Needing some help?!?!

Ok so I got some hens off craigslist the other day. 1 which was sitting on eggs. She abandoned the eggs after her 5 little ones hatched. There were 4 left. 3 wernt even fertile but one is. I candled it and it's black inside... Can only see the air pocket, within that air pocket you can see a pulse. I have been incubating this egg for 2 day now, I figured it would have hatched by now.... Should I help it and make a peep hole? I've done alot of reading about it... It's a hard decision! I don't want to make peep hole and is to early and I kill it,but I also don't want it to die in the egg.... HELP?!?!

it might just be a little behind, maybe it was laid a day or three later than the others. I would keep it in the incubator and keep the humidity up, I think it will hatch soon

the pulse you see is most likely the chick breathing air within the air cell. this is an important part of the hatching process. once it starts breathing, it starts absorbing the veins and yolk, which can take 12-24hrs. after that, it should make an external pip on the shell, then it can take another 12hr rest before starting to zip the shell. I think you are another 24-36hrs away

Just had a breakthrough!finally popped a hole! So exciting!

So your saying it could be another 24 hours before it starts really coming out? Jeez. Time consuming! Lol

I would GUESS 12hrs after pip, but could be as long as 24 congrats!
