Seriously though, I find I have very high hatch rates on my eggs, sometimes I think the people I sell to hatch better than me.

NOTE TO SELF: I must start putting my eggs in a box for two days and shake them well before setting them.............

L0L, maybe the gentle rocking motions of being shipped across states must really promote fertility?

Either way, I'm going to have some babies very, very soon. I'm still crossing my fingers for a BW cockerel!!

I buy my needles at either First State Vet Supply or at Twin City Poultry when I buy the vaccine.

BTW: Where did you buy the vaccine that they don't also sell the needles and syringes?

Department of agriculture told us to order from a online vet supply. I haven't tried it yet...so I don't know if their going to ask for my certification # or not. If not...I imagine anyone could order them. Try it. They gave me an entire list of recommended companies...l can PM you more info if you need it.

I found this: http://poultryone.com/articles/mareks.html it says to inject just under the skin, not into a muscle. The 27 gauge should work for this.

Check with your local tack shop/equine supply store - that's where I bought mine. They sell a 1 ml syringe/needle combo and they are called tuberculin syringes. The needles are 25 gauge needles.

Jeremy,

If you are in the Bay Area, you can get Marek's vaccine, dilutent and needles at Sam's in San Jose. They sometimes run out of stuff though, so call first. There is also a source in the North Bay but I am not familiar with the details.

I ended up getting everything I need in time and administered the vaccine to the chicks with no problem. It was a bit stressful though and I don't know if I'll want to do it again myself.

I wonder if there's a vet or clinic in the Bay Area (generally speaking) that would vaccinate for you? Does anybody have any experience with this?
