Hi im a neewbie to hatching i have roan ducks who just started laying eggs. I have 20 + chickens. I want to start trying to hatch some eggs i got the HOVA BATOR. So i have a million questions LOL. Any advise would be great. Like how to clean eggs before putting eggs in how long do you let them sit at room temp before putting them in bator? And what is the best temp to keep it at ? How often do you ck temp ect ?

Well you can get a thermomerter and humidity meter at Wal Mart like this

for a little over $6.00. You can keep your eggs at room temp for up to seven day after which your hatch will be lessened. You don't want to wash the eggs because there is a coating from the hen that must not be removed. If the egg is that dirty don't set it. Your temperature should be at 99.5 degrees if your incubator has a fan if it doesn't it should be kept at 102 degrees. Hope this helps.....
