back in the beginning of April my broody went over, and about the third week we had one baby... well now she has really stopped caring for her, so the baby is looking a little tiny and has bald spots.... now that is a first in my experience, so I am going to try and catch the baby and bring her in, wash her off and see if I can give her a good meal... the hens are all little feathery piggies so I suspect that they are not sharing. after I get her in and evaluate her on weather or not she can go back out again I will go from there . She is very very skittish even around the hens so it may take me a while to catch her... any other suggestions on what I might be able to do for her ?

My silkie has the same problem. The omly thing she does is hatch the eggs but does not take care of the chicks. She has been broody since May. A few weeks ago she hatched a chick and I let her attempt to raise it. It started to get dirty and thin in the next 2 days. I decided to take it away from her I didnt want to put the chicks life in danger. She is now healthy and happy. If you are scared to let the mom have it to raise dont give it back to her. You probaly fell more comtforble if you raise it and you know it will grow up healthy and happy.Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
