Um. If the problem continues, if it were ME (but I am a wild woman), I would say something like, "Look, my birds are perfectly fine. If you think there is a problem and I'm abusing my animals, you're welcome to report me to the authorities. But you need to understand that doing so may have consequences to our friendship. So please, I don't want to hear any more about it. Okay? Now, do you want another cookie?"Remember that chickens, while kept in a domesticated situation, are still BIRDS. Nature has provided them all they need to survive, and YOU are providing them much more than that. When your neighbor comes crying to you, offer her a cup if tea and tell her to calm herself, your birds are finer than fine. Cardinals and bluejays have far less than your birds do and they survive. Ignore the silly biddies who know less than nothing, and enjoy your feathered biddies.
