I have 11 laying hens...and one rooster...I don't need the rooster, I planned on buying chicks, not hatching them, but I have always wanted a flock including a rooster, to be able to hear him crow, and so he will protect the girls..so OBVIOUSLY my eggs are fertile.
I am able to sell most of my eggs- my neighbor buys them from me, and makes pickled eggs! They live on a farm, and he has had experience in his younger years with chickens..he CANNOT get over the fact that I have a rooster and that I sell these fertile eggs. He says if I am not gonna hatch them, I shouldn't have a rooster in with the hens, and the eggs are gonna have blood spots because of the fertility. Every time I see him he asks me if I have removed the rooster yet...heck, I have seen blood spots in store eggs...I just keep smiling and tell him NOPE he is still in there! It is driving HIM and ME nuts!

Clearly he doesn't have a clue! Blood spots are just as likely to happen in an unfertilized egg! I've gotten them in store eggs too. Tell him you got that rooster caponized. How would he know? lol

Tell him you paid extra for a gay rooster, and he has no interest in your hens at all. Bet that'll shut him up...

My DH gets stuck on things in that way. I just shake my head & laugh & say "Boy, you are gonna bring that up FOREVER, aren't you?" No harm in letting him know that you've heard him (and heard him and...)

Tell him it's none of his business and it doesn't affect him in the least, so back off and go tend to your own livestock. Wasnt there a bible verse that's like :Why recognize the splinter in your neighbors eye when there is a wooden beam in yours?:

Or tell him you'll shove the rooster up his if he doesnt shut up :]

Or you could tell him without the roos the girls get "ansty" and withhold eggs.
