I have 11 laying hens...and one rooster...I don't need the rooster, I planned on buying chicks, not hatching them, but I have always wanted a flock including a rooster, to be able to hear him crow, and so he will protect the girls..so OBVIOUSLY my eggs are fertile.
I am able to sell most of my eggs- my neighbor buys them from me, and makes pickled eggs! They live on a farm, and he has had experience in his younger years with chickens..he CANNOT get over the fact that I have a rooster and that I sell these fertile eggs. He says if I am not gonna hatch them, I shouldn't have a rooster in with the hens, and the eggs are gonna have blood spots because of the fertility. Every time I see him he asks me if I have removed the rooster yet...heck, I have seen blood spots in store eggs...I just keep smiling and tell him NOPE he is still in there! It is driving HIM and ME nuts!
