A covenant can exist separately from an HOA...
....better find a copy of that covenant and consult with a real estate lawyer.

Bribe him with eggs! Old people are easily swayed, thus why many of them fall victim to scams..... not saying you are scamming him but, you get the drift.

I would get a no crow collar. They work wonderfully. At this point I would play nice with Mr Grumpy. Let him know that you are going this route but it may take about a month to get the collar adjusted and working properly. The bribing of eggs along with this would be a plan. Good Luck.

You should also check city/county codes on keeping backyard chickens. Regardless of the HOA, city/county laws would come into play. Good luck.

We have the covenants, there is a section on "duration of restrictions" but it's all mumbo jumbo to me. I looked up our HOA on our state site and it says "Inactive - Administratively Dissolved" as of March 2017.
Did I mention he doesn't even live here?! He won't even be moving here for a few more years!

Yes, the HOA did the covenants. Our county has no rules regarding livestock. Everyone right next to us who are just out of our little subdivision has cows, horses, etc.
