Neighbor threatening to "take out my roosters"

@ teesquare:

No offense taken.

There are half backs! Some of the people that move to Florida to escape winter and then complain about the heat and drive 5 miles an hour in the fast lane and pull into traffic in large cars w/o looking actually leave the state w/o involving the undertaker? That is great news. Can you take more of them? Pretty please. :p

Of course...you could wait 'til nightfall - - light a bag of chicken poo on his porch, ring the doorbell and run......

Seriously - I find that folks that move to any area of the USA different than their native region - need to just relax, and enjoy the new area for what it is. Not try to change it and make it conform to where they came from...Otherwise - WHY did they move?

congratulations on your handling of this guy. you mentioned some posts back his wife was the shy type. no wonder after living with this guy who no doubt brow beats her all the time & expects others to cower in fear of him. sounds like you've got it under control.

Do as one of our local farmers did when his neighbor who "moved from the city" to enjoy the country living on his 5 ac tract, but fought the division of the neighboring farm into tracts

Excellent! I love the solution to the problem. Makes ya wanna mind yer own bizness, huh? Someone could move in 100 squealing, stinking hogs if you don't. Maybe the OP could send her neighbor a copy of this article!

Enjoyed this topic....

Try having a neighbor who is a FFA leader and VO AG teacher complain about you having animals! My farm is neat, tidy and a "working" farm....his is 4 acres with 21 cows and not a blade of grass. I too am working on a pig pen....you cant have it both ways and he is about to learn that the hard and smelly way!

I come from a different perspective and can't say my ideas are more wise than the others on rules or what shoulds?
I lived in the "acreage" in Florida, our neighbor had chickens and roosters. We each had an acre and a quarter.
The chickens never bothered me but to my husband they were a nemesis. He commented about them almost every day.
Our neighbors never knew and the day her husband was going to move the hen house he died w a heart attack out in the yard.

I think God wanted my husband to flow better with things he could not control and find a way of trusting God and letting him work in the dynamics.
Which to me is where I would advise you also.
Perhaps you speak quite often to God or maybe you think chickens are not that important. But he says I will open doors no man can shut and shut doors no man can open. He can soften your neighbor's heart or harden it so much he sells his property.

But the greatest benefit is you did not have to change your kindness or your good nature.

When Noah's neighbors were rotten he built an arc and gave them time to change, it was God who shut the door so Noah would never have that on his conscious.

Much compassion for you and your situation.
