in my neighborhood, and I see them every day on my way to work and finally got a picture! I know some people on here really know their stuff when it comes to chicken breeds and colors so if anyone knows what his deal is, let me know!

Right? He’s beautiful! He has a lot going on in the way of color, between the gold head (I think someone told me this is a “Columbian” gene), the mottled underside, and the iridescent green. I want to figure out what he is and get one like him for my flock
Good luck on your quest to find out what he is and get one for yourself. If you know who his owner is you could ask about chicks or fertile eggs for incubation. He looks like he has some hens so it can’t hurt to ask if they have either that you could get from them.

He and another rooster have two hens with them. I’ve thought about snagging a few eggs before (while one neighbor puts food out sometimes and collects some eggs, to say that these chickens belong to anyone would be a stretch), but with there being two roosters in play I wouldn’t be able to be sure they were fertilized by him and not his Plymouth Rock buddy. The mother of the two current hens was a big white hen, and one of the current roosters is their sire, so even if I did get eggs and they were fertilized by Sebastian (the colorful rooster), i feel like the plain white genetics are strong.
