Neighborhood coyotes, advice needed!

Down the hill the sheriff's department and DOW (as well as City of Boulder P&OS in my case) get involved quickly with aggressive coyote. Remember the kids who were stalked and bit by coyote in Denver a few years back?
Only reason I have 2 100# dogs.

Do you know what the authorities actually did? Did they set traps? Did they hang out overnight and shoot them one by one? Just curious what happens once you get them involved.

Was the dog attack reported? Start there. One neighbor shot 2 coyote on his property who were attacking his 80# male lab. Sheriff's department called and nothing more happened. I have talked to AC and they said they would trap them and dispose of them. Can't discharge a gun on OS but I'm sure there are exceptions. Call the sheriff's department. They probably have a lower tolerance than PC Boulder .

I will ask my sheriff neighbor about this too. More than once I've thought of getting a paintball gun. Plus then if a purple coyote is spotted we will know it's the same one that keeps returning ;)
I personally live within city limits.:( I will use an airsoft gun on pretadors to keep them away without injuring them. Hope this helps!

Don't trust a coyote. here are over 250 reasons not to do so and most of these "incidents" only took place in California. How many other unfortunate incidents between humans and coyotes are there if those that occurred in Mexico, Canada, and the other 48 states were known. I doubt that coyotes are strong enough swimmers to make it all the way to Hawaii.

I am along a prairie path where there are lots of them. Animal Control will not do anything other then to educate on how to live with them here. I have a video where all my dogs lined up and you could here the coyotes. It was a lot of pups. Very spooky to hear. My dogs knew exactly where they were. My yard is fenced in, I have large dogs and they say to let them pee around the perimeter and that has worked in keeping them out so far. Ours are huge, they are more like coywolves.

My DH has peed on the fence around the back yard and although we have coyotes in our neighborhood, non have come into the yard that we know of or messed with our chickens. Don't know if this is an option for you, but I recommend going out late at night and peeing along your fence line.

Here are my three waiting, watching and listening
