Neighbor's cat getting into chickens! Help!!

If the cat isn't hurting your chickens, it may be taking care of rodents that are attracted to your chicken feed. If it is going after your chickens, I would talk to your neighbor first. After that trap it and bring it to the SPCA. I have two cats that roam with the chickens. The cats couldn't be bothered with them.

My friend in montana had a pack of dogs come in and massacred her WHOLE flock. turkeys chickens etc. These were all well loved birds she had raised from eggs. The next day they came back to try to get the rabbits and her boyfriend managed to get one of the dogs before they ran off. He took the shot because they squared off on him baring teeth.
Yes I have a friend that had over $3,000 in damages from two dogs one night. With their geese. Very rare and expensive geese.

If anything the cats are more scared of the chickens than the chickens are scared of them.

If you have a good rooster (or a few), they will take care of any cats thinking about it.

I have great hunter cats. All are afraid of the chickens.

has there ever been a case where a cat has taken a full grown standard chicken? or rooster? I dont think cats ever take things bigger than they are and chickens look bigger with all that feather fluff. cats prefer things much smaller. Or at least animals with fur they can chomp down quick. I have never seen them take a big bird before.

Every hatchery or barn has them. Existing cats chase off wild cats. Places that dont have cats seem to be over run with vermin and reptiles.

That has GOT to be not only an exception but an exceptionally starved cat. I had one pestering mine and even the crows hated the thing. It was really thin and starving. My neighbor managed to trap it, had it fixed, and started feeding it. Now it won't give the chickens a second glance.

I think you're right Galanie. I have a really good hunting cat that can catch pretty much anything, but is just terrified of the chickens.

"that" cat...? each attack is a different one, and yes I did see it.. was pinning it to the ground when I shot it.

Do you have a high stray cat rate? I have never heard of any cat attacking full grown chickens.

I've had my fair share of cats in the area that are not my own. They do not stand a chance against my roosters.
