Those generally work. I'd also talk to the neighbor. I know if one of my barn cats roams, I want to know about it, will thank you, come get him and do what it takes to keep him home.
If you have any roosters or broody hens, maybe consider free-ranging a bit. I have a scad of cats and none of them dare stalk a chicken - my roosters see to that! I used to have a great big strapping male cat, Karma, who in his youth (he already weighed 15 lbs and stood as tall as my knee though) thought he'd stalk a broody's chicks. The sight of him streaking across the yard with that hen riding him like a rodeo cowboy, both of them shrieking as loud as they could will be forever vivid in my mind!
