Take them for a nice ride. Then you can go over to the neighbors and ask if he has seen any of your chickens since you seem to be missing a few... now he will think something got the birds and it wasn't you who took his chickens. IF he wants to get more for his son, you could show him a chicken tractor idea.. they are safe and easy for him and his kid. Lol just my 2cents.
But if you're a new person to this site, (as I am) this was new information for me. So, it's good info, old or new. I'm sorry, but I was going to suggest you catch them and take them to a no kill animal shelter where someone might adopt them who truly appreciated them. I know it's probably not exactly morally correct but I would not tell the neighbor you did it. You actually would be doing the chickens a favor by saving them from getting run over by a car, killed by a predator or shot by an angry neighbor. The neighbors obviously don't care enough about them to afford them this protection.
our neighbor down the street has bantams in cages and i don't know if she has hens or not but two of the roosters came down the road to our place and they haven't left so we are going to try and fatten them up to sell as meat birds cause they are pathetic looking and i think she was using them for fighting or she just has them crowed in those cages but i think my mom is going to change her mind and call animal control to come take them
