Neighbors chickens

Happy Sunday!!

So obviously I have chickens LOL… I have 12 of my own but my neighbor also has one adult hen and four pullets that free Range all day… Mine do not free range all day… How do I keep their chickens off my patio and my chairs and my bushes? Also how do I keep them from bothering my girls? They are an interference when I'm calling my girls back to their own coop/run.

Can you round them up? I’ve had that happen and I just gently get the bird(s) and take them back to the neighbor with a smile and “oops, the poor little guy got lost in my yard”. After doing that a couple of times, the neighbors penned their birds up more. We’re in the suburbs though so they are supposed to be fenced up here.

Just talk to your neighbour.

Being a chicken owner yourself you know that keeping chickens/animals goes with the responsibility to keep them on your own yard, so nobody else will be molested.
This applies for your neighbour as well and it is his obligation to keep his chicken from trespassing by fencing them in just as well as yours have to be kept on your property without trespassing on your neighbours yard.

So i can absolutely get the older hen and bring her home... but she literally just follows me back home. Always!! The younger ones wont let me near them... i can just chase them away. i dont think my neighbors are concerned at all where their chickens go. And they dont have a run.

I may have to go with fencing, as much as i dont want to.

It shouldn't be your responsibility to put up fencing to keep THEIR birds out of your yard. If you need to go the route of fencing then contact your neighbors and tell them exactly why you're fencing and see if they can pitch in $ to keep their birds OUT. A pricetag might make them more willing to come up with their own solution.

You can also be a good neighbor/chicken owner and let them know the dangers of having chickens free range unattended and it might provoke them to make a run to safely house their gals.

Oh I totally understand...quarantine has made me into a curmudgeon who hates socializing in real life, but it's an unfortunate reality for a lot of chicken owners :/

I agree!!!! Would much rather just chill with the chickies lol. People are overrated lol
