My neighbors dog scared off my Rooster. I know he didn't kill him because the dog is white and there was no blood on his face or feathers. My rooster is missing (I'm assuming he's hiding)

Will he come back???

If he's okay he will, maybe not until dusk, or even tomorrow. As long as nothing else gets him out there.
And the neighbor's dogs and your chickens need some separation, apparently.

My condolences......

I hope it goes well with the neighbor. Try not to be confrontational. You are upset and have every right to be, but a dog is a dog.

Does the dog run astray or do they try to keep him/her confined? The only recourse you have is replacement cost. I know the rooster means more to you than that, but in the eyes of the law they are livestock.

The more cordial you are, the more likely they will try to rectify the problem, unless they are just mean people.

You do have the right to defend your livestock if the dog comes onto your property again.

Good luck!

We're building a fence but we're in Texas do we're waiting until it isn't 5000° outside. I knew this was a possibility because the dogs roam a lot.i ju st had my fingers crossed we could make it a couple more months. I mean I literally have the fence material 😪. We are no longer going to talk to the neighbors. I am not going to get over $15. I have called animal control. This dog was also snapping at other neighbors, and I felt with that aggression and the animal killing it is best to leave it to the county to deal with. I am mad but I'll just add to my flock once the fence is up.

Of course we'll end up with a mean ass roo this next time I'm sure...

RIP WhiskeyBird.
