Neighbor's Dogs Killed Entire Flock & Donkey

I'm sure everyone has given you great advice so far so I will just add that I am really sorry!!!!

We live in upper Michigan on a 30 acre farm that is zoned agricultural. Four years ago we purchased two Great Pyrenees to protect our chickens and horses after our neighbors dogs were chasing our horses and killed 10 of our chickens. Later a raccoon killed 16 chickens in their chicken house over a two week period. After we bought out GP we have had no losses. Now our neighbor( ironically the one who owns the murderous dogs! )Has complained of our dogs keeping her up at night! The police has been here and we are having to lock them up in the barn at night. Wondering if anyone has had this problem and the best way to handle this situation.

This is a real 'touchey' situation. I would firstly take the pictures of what the neighbors dogs did and show them they did to your animals. I would tell them you are sorry your dogs are disturbing them but you need to protect YOUR animals. Do try and put the dogs some place where they can still guard at night but may be farther from your neighbor. She must be a light sleeper. I never worry about my chickens at night, only during the day when they free range. The pens are secure, the top of the chicken yard is covered in plactic netting, and there is 4 strands of electric rope carrying 6000 V anround the chicken yard with the pens inside. I can't say enough for Premier electric rope. The solution my be having to keep the dogs in the barn and makeing the chicken area more secure. G.P.'s are such great gurard dogs. If it was not so bloomin hot down here in the summer that is what I would have gotten as a chicken gurarding dog. Instead I opted for a Kangal. Good luck with your problem !

Sorry I am trying to figure this posting out!!
My neighbor is so confusing! She has called for eggs, I have delivered them to her door, she came over for medical treatment after her dogs drug her down a boat ramp scraping her legs badly! I am a nurse and my husband is a doctor. She even walked over in the middle if the night to check our barn fridge for eggs! Thank goodness for our dogs! They alerted us that someone was here! Most of our interactions were pleasant even after her dogs killed our chickens we declined payment and just requested the but a fence or kennel for their dogs. About 6-8 months ago she texted at 230am complaining about our dogs barking but unfortunately I didn't get it until the next morning but immediately replied and apologized and explained that the dogs were working and fall/ spring are bad times because raccoons, skunks, coyote, etc move around a lot more it seems. I then offered to purchase a fan, noise machine, earplugs for her if she wanted to try that! She declined. Now this?!? 6-8 months later? Why didn't she just call? She is over 100 yards away with an outbuilding and a tree line in between our property. That is the closest point. I have never been awoken by them barking . If I happen to be up I can occasionally hear them.
For now they will stay in the barn because most critters are hibernating and the coyote can't get into the coop but spring and summer I want my dogs back at work. I have watched them chase coyote and a bear off our property! They are much needed!

Some neighbors are less mature than kids. When i was younger my family lived out in the country but the houses were side by side as if you were in a sub division. There was a neighbor 4 houses down from us who would say that our goats were making to much noise and keeping them up. The neighbor right beside us said he barely ever heard the goats, and the 2 further away didnt even know we had goats because they never even heard them lol. Whats even funnier is the guy across the street from the complaining neighbor had a donkey that would scream at the top of its lungs every morning loud enough that we could hear them loud and clear yet he never complained about them. The only reason they had a hate on for us was because we caught them egging our house one night and called the police on them.
