If my neighbors dog came into my yard over and over and chased my chickens. I have a right to put it out. But if I where to do that then she will call the police then this whole lawsuit thing would happen plus being the talk of the town. Then there goes whatever money we have. We would be worse in debt and everyone would hate our guts so we would have to move. Maybe thats how she feels about it I dont know.

The little girl reacted to a violent situation. It said she didn't know it was dead, until it was over. Obviously, she didn't want to waste the bird, so she wanted to butcher it.

My granddaughter is 7 and lives in Kentucky. She knows how to shoot, and she knows not to waste food. I can see her doing the same thing.

As for it being wrong to take a life, even for the right reasons- I'll have to chew on that one while I eat mt rib eye tonight!

Back to the OT (original topic) I know very little about this little girl but I'm impressed.
My 7 year old has only just begun using plastic BB guns and paintball guns under
MY supervision. If we had the land I'd be teaching him to shoot a .22. Even our
BB guns have gun locks on them for safety. My Dad, a retired police officer, has gotten
very mad at me for letting him shoot a plastic bb gun and when I mentioned I want
to get him a good 10 pump pellet gun he almost strangled me. 51 flavors...

My grandfather was just like you. Since I was 5 I was shooting real metal BB's. I would shoot cans far 3 yards away. then 10 then 20. I am avery good shot. Now I own a bb gun and use my moms b/f pellet gun for predators.

I refuse to allow my son to be as stupid as me. The only solution I can see is teaching

well I know you are a great father to your kid for teaching him at his age. You know how many stories I have read about kids shooting there friends by accident. The kids where 5 years old! The father never taught them safety or how to handle a gun. I know you will teach him saftey and how to be smart.

My 3 year old son has a toy gun someone gave him for his second birthday. He ran around pointing it at everyone so we took it and put it in my gun safe with my guns. Whenever I get my guns out to hunt or to clean them, he asks to see his gun and I let him look at it until we close the safe and back in the safe it goes. I see this as a first step in teaching him responsibility around firearms. He doesn't point it at anyone anymore, but says he's going hunting with me this fall.
