Neighbourly complaints about 'Egg Songs'..

Last year I could hear this noise every morning..

I knew it was a bird of some kind but I was intrigued so I climbed up on the back fence to have a look... I could see chickens!! I knew nothing about them except the obvious.. they lay eggs! Anyway 2 months later after much reading and research I was all set and ready for my own chickens.. I feel in love with my neighbour's chickens egg song stage production and wanted my own! There is also a rooster somewhere near by.. but it really doesn't bother me, barking dogs are by far the most annoying!
As for the annoying neighbour next door

I made sure where I live we are allowed to keep chickens.. so yeh he will get a big fat

if he wants to complain!

I am waiting for that time when I hear the egg song from my girls-probably 4-5 more weeks.

I just think as they get older and go from peeping to more grown-up chicken noises, it sounds so sweet!

I really hope my neighbors think the same.

Actually, the beauty of my neighbours is that they are just as noisy as my chickens are. So if they ever want to bring it up - i have a lot of ammo and won't go out with a bang

Hi All,

What exactly are "Egg Songs"? My hen has become much more vocal since I re-homed the Roo. And 6 adorable pullets and her "own" the yard now. But sometimes, she is VERY loud and sounds scared. But when I go check...I don't see anything out of the ordinary.

She is laying. (Her MO has been to lay an egg every other day). She always lays in the morning, but she sometimes is very loud in the afternoons too.

Thanks!

Egg songs are the hen sounds after laying. They sound like cluckcluckcluckcluck BAWWWWW! cluckcluckcluckcluck BAWWWWW! Or cluckcluckcluck BA-CAWWW!!

You can type in "egg song" on youtube and scroll down a bit to find many videos. Boy is it the truth. It's definitely a cluckcluckcluck BAGAWK cluckcluckcluck BAGAWK or, if you are my Maude it's way more BAGAWK and a lot less cluck.

Mine were really singing the egg song this morning. Both girls trying to lay at the same time one in the nest box and one waiting to get in. So loud. She finally went to another nest box. Good girl.
