Nest Box 2.0 ??

... and put fake eggs in the new nests...or just wait and see.

I had forgotten the fake egg trick, I have three and put them in the three "unused" nest boxes shortly after your reminder. I just was out to give them a shredded carrot treat and voila, a seventh egg in one of the boxes with fake egg (not usual for me to have a mid-day egg)!

When I put the fake eggs in they got interest from all of my laying pullets with several going in to nose them around. Will see how things progress without blocking the corner...

over the last 4+ years i have used a "general" from Lowes, a HF and a wallyworld IR thermometer......all about the same price. The HF lost accuracy after i was reading the firepit one night.... i guess i got to close? its accuracy is now very much in question when set at same sarea as the Lowe's one.... sometime 10*F error.
ymmv

Edit for clarification: posts #84-89 is why I added this reply...... Yet, I have an email alert from someone that is asking about my appearant random reply. This is said by them that this is the 2nd time they have seen me do this & are wondering..... Well, it makes me wonder too because.... I have a reoccurring oddity with posting replies on this forum ---- the web page reloaded with my reply right below the post I just quoted regardless the age of the post. Then, when I go-to the next page, and eventually get to the end of the thread, "there is my reply" correctly in timeline with it's placement...... I scroll back to the page of the reply and my reply is no longer visible in both places.

Maybe I should link to the system update thread for such wierdness? As this happens for both my PC desktop & this Android phones use of both Firefox browsers.....

Yet now edit #2: I don't see the comment that's in my email.... Screenshot_20200129-081737.png

Go figure..... I have wierd software things happen, BSOD, or just spontaneous crashes & power losses.....

It's always good to 'quote' the post you are replying to......avoids much confusion.
I did have the "quote &reply" clicked when I made it last night. And. It was on the desktop..... BTW I just added a question to @Nifty-Chicken in the update thread.

(Edit to add) Just like this post successfully did do what it was supposed to do.... Quote & reply..... (Shrugs)

The email you got was from me as I did not understand the context of your reply until after I re-read and saw your "IR thermometer" reference. I then deleted that post. So the "wierdness" (weirdness is correct, one of those English language oddities) in this case is human as opposed to the system. However, I too have seen the missing comment problem you reference and have reported it.

I strongly support @aart 's suggestion that you "Quote" or "Reply" when you make a post referencing backwards into a thread as not everyone (anyone?) remembers all postings in a thread. Not including the original post runs the risk of making your post look like something from left field.

No biggie.

Okay that partially answers the beginning wierdness but, did you reply before or during/after my edit to that posting? As "That is the a now more clarified" other part of the "wierdness" that I have also posted.... Geez-o-pete what a start to my day.....

/Tangent

I REALLY dislike the reply text box in Android when I have to fix spelling or change sentence structure or add a picture... The page summarily desided to shift allover the screen so I don't get to see where I'm typing until many letter I to the new word... Others have also dialogued in that "update thread" on the size of screen on the screen issue I'm referring too now....

I am just really grateful I don't have to access the web using an itty bitty screen and glitchy 'apps'.

Soooo @Ted Brown are those girls laying where they are 'supposed' to?

I deleted my post shortly after I made it and well before your explanatory edit.

The more I learn about the BYC site the more I understand that the platform on which it resides is deep, complex, comprehensive. It is clear that @Nifty-Chicken and many others are very capable, as a group we are very lucky to have them. There have been many "glitches" as evidenced by the Update thread, they have enough to do without chasing phantoms. I also see that the platform provides a "transaction history" (I was asked to provide an explanation for why I deleted my post) another sign of well designed and executed code.

Cheers

No, the little boogers are mostly laying in the back corner!

I put some cardboard boxes in the corner where they are laying but they think they are toys for them to play with so move them all about in the coop. I am going to re-install my brood wall and shut the area off completely but at the moment it is -18C, will warm in the next few days.

I could complain but they make me laugh with their antics. Also have one of my roos crowing, start before dawn and continues through the day. Have to say it is not overly loud and makes me smile.
